Unheard Voices: Ignoring the Real Cases of Abduction…

  • “All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”- George Orwell 1945
  • Nigerians, why ranting over one single soul when hundreds of souls were abducted, killed, enslaved, sexually abused, humiliated and impregnated in the arid region?

Yunusa arrested for alleged abduction of Ese Oruru

The celebrated case of Ese Oruru’s alleged abduction has intensified beyoung mere case of human fallibility which can lead man into trouble or even self-destruction.

Contrary to the speculated story of abduction, reports have it that Ese actually eloped with Yunusa Yellow, probably their affair is some kind of teenage infatuation, which has been going on globally centuries before now.

Yunusa sent to prison for alleged abduction and illicit affair

The most amusing thing in this “politicalized abduction saga” is the widespread sentiments, fallacies and bigotry that blinded the minds of people and Nigerian media. No one is showing remorse or even care about the predicament that befall hundreds of young girls and women were forcefully kidnapped by the Boko Haraam militants under the watchful eyes of former president Goodluck Jonathan. These abducted young girls and women were equally Nigerians and deserved the right to live, right to their freedom, right to education, and right to their bodies, but due to politically motivated terrorism their human rights has been snatched for greed and selfish interest.

The Nigerian Media and Bloggers are in the forefront using Ese and Yunusa’s love affair to denigrate Islam, simply because the girl was said to have converted to Islam on her own free accord. Islam has been maligned and projected with negative remarks by non-Muslims, that's an irrational thought and “disease of naivety” that often misconstrue the actual meaning and philosophy that Islam stand for.

Recently there was a reported case of a 12 year old girl identified as Queen from Bayelsa state who was molested by her own father and impregnated her in the process. Sources said the Bayelsa man forces the young girl to under gone abortion, which resulted to serious health problems for the minor.
Reports say the father, a native of Imiringi, Ogbia local government area, Bayelsa state, has been molesting the minor from the age of 11, which eventually put her in her present predicament.

The case of Queen and her incestuous father is a case of child abuse, rape and molestation of minor, yet Nigerians, the media see no point  in reporting or calling the attention of authority to take action against the Bayelsa man, why? Because the accused is not a Muslim and he doesn’t belong to Hausa/ Fulani ethnic group.

With the emergence of the new government in Nigeria, May 2015, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, the new reforms and measures taken in fighting the menace of Boko Haraam terrorism in Nigeria, the nation’s defense headquater has been relocated to North-Eastern state of Borno state the most violent and dangerous home of Boko Haraam militant.  The nation’ security forces have succeeded in discovering and destroying many militants camps within the Sambisa forest in Maiduguri rescuring hundreds of people, mostly women and children under the captivity of the dreaded Boko Haraam sect.

The most recent horrific and heartbreaking news on the reports by Nigerian daily newspapers in September 2015, when the troops rescued scores of women and frail looking, severe malnourished children, in Bama axis of Borno state. This was confirmed by Colonel Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army public relations, in his word: “The gallant troops rescued dozens of kidnapped women and children held captives by Boko haraam terrorists”.– Vanguard news, 22 September, 2015.

Women and children rescued from Sambisa forest

When girls’ school was attack example of the Chibok secondary school girls in Borno state at the night of 14-15 April 2014 where over 250 female students were abducted from school, and there whereabouts is not known uptil now. All effort and cries by Nigerians and international communities to rescue the girls, was abortive under the leadership of the then Nigerian president Jonathan Goodluck.

Despite the multiple abuses and killing on youth at the school, those in their homes were not spared. The ordeal of North-Eastern Nigerian women, young girls and children in the hands of Boko Haram captives when rescued from their camp shortly after the defeat of April 2015 election, where president Jonathan lost to general Muhammad Buhari one will wonder what took Jonathan long time to decide in tackling the insurgency issue in the country. When the whole world was pleading crying for the authority to apply force on controlling the menace, it was ignored. There has never been any serious effort in action only in paper; does former president Jonathan sees the problem of Northern Nigerian people as not part of his governance?

Was there more to what the citizen of Nigeria are aware of in connected to the dreaded insurgency that brought misery and untold hardship to millions of people?

Sometime in April 2015 a group of over 270 women, young girls and children were rescued from North eastern Nigeria. Sambisa forest camp by the Nigeria army rescue operation team. These traumatized victims of Boko Haram captives are just a fraction out of the countless number of women, children and young girls kidnapped then forcefully taken by the militant group.

Amnesty international report says Boko Haraam had abducted countless number of girls, women and young men to be used as sex slaves and fighters. Boko Haraam has used some of the girls and women as suicide bombers, sending them into crowded market, Motor Park and business places in different part of the northern Nigeria. Most of the women and young girls held captive were impregnated by members of the Boko Haraam when rescued.

The acts of vicious violence in North-Eastern Nigeria targeting innocent young girls and women who were held captives, used as sex-slaves should have been our utmost priority, not rattling over a girl who run off with a guy.

Another area of great concern is how the nation parliament will enact a law that will control the activities of countless number of “Baby Factories” that sprang all over the South Eastern Nigeria. The rights of young teenage girls used for producing babies have been violated.

Teenage girls held captives in South East “Baby Factory”

Recently Helen Oritsejafor wife of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor made some irrational comments when asked by the media for her views concerning the Ese Oruru, the girl who was allegedly abducted from Bayelsa to Kano.

Helen Oritsejafor said, “That child according to her parents was taken away when she was 13, meaning as a teenager, she couldn’t have known her right from wrong. Let put religion aside, automatically it is important that whoever participated in this kidnapping should face the law and should be dealt with in that manner.”

“I also want to encourage the parliament, whether at the state level or national, on the need for them to enact law that protect the girl-child because what we see now in this country is quite alarming.”

It really sad and hilarious to hear such utterances from wife of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, whose husband was a close associate of former President Goodluck Jonathan; Pastor Oritsejafor was one time involved in a scandalous illegal arms deal and money laundering in connection to Boko Haraam insurgency.

Notes that pastor Ayo Oritsejafor the president of Nigerian Christian Association CAN, private jet was found loaded with millions of dollars and in the process of procuring illegal arms and a fighter helicopter. Cleric purchasing security equipment, does have an explanation? Obviously, a case like this is too secretive for ordinary citizen to question let alone understand the legitimate nature of the deal.

Teenagers rescued from Southeastern Nigerian “Baby Factory”

Helen Oritsejafor, how can you convince us that the illegal arms deal link to your husband was use to fight our daughters and wives’ kidnappers not for the “Boko haram fighters”?

I would also like to advise you to encourage the parliament on the need to get the abducted Chibok girls and countless other young girls that were forcefully kidnapped in the North Eastern Nigeria.

There is no logical link between the case of Ese Oruru and the declaration of girl child protection. Even declaring this is an admission of propaganda and political hypocrisy.

Let us address the issue of real abducted girls and women that are trapped in the arid region.
